Wildblue has worked with major Hollywood studios such as Warner Bros. to bring new movies and TV shows into its network for over three years.
WildBlueTV.com launched a new application on October 15, 2006 featuring real time movie trailers along with pre-show and post-show content. On October 10, 2008 the movie trailer section was upgraded with an all-new interface that highlighted user generated content alongside the latest trailers from WildBlue's partnership with Paramount Pictures.
WildBlueTV launched a full featured video game streaming service, Blox Gamecast, in November 2006 that offers over 350 video games to users at no additional charge. With EasySign up (with all of their other applications, services, and devices) a user can log into the service using his/her existing user name and password. WildBlue has managed to increase their traffic from the games it offers in the past 2 years by over 10x. The company claims that in 2007 they have seen an increase in sales of their streaming devices; this growth is attributed to its growing video game streaming service which has continuously increased its presence online since launch.
In November 2006, WildBlue launched a satellite TV service at no charge for users of the .net Internet portal that gives access to a number of popular channels via satellite, including Comedy Central and TNT. The service was available on all WildBlue satellite modems and set-top boxes. The service currently charges $29.95 per month, with a free monthly subscription for satellite subscribers of either Dish Network or DirecTV.
WildBlue announced a new product line in mid-2009 that would allow users to view live TV on the Internet, with no television needed. This is done by broadcasting live television over the Internet and via the latest WildBlue satellite receivers (from HDTV models down to standard definition models) as well as through the app, with the receiver acting as a "proprietary media player". Initial channel offerings will include NBC, ABC, FOX and CW affiliates for most major markets.
Conclusion, WildBlue and its services are a great way to explore the vast world of entertainment. We are constantly developing new features and technology that will surely help us to stay at the forefront.
