Why Would I Want A Link Partner?

It is hard to imagine how much easier it can possibly be to learn something new. Whether you are a teacher looking for resources, a college student trying to connect with people better suited than yourself, or just someone who has always wanted to know more about what they love, connecting on the web is now easier than ever. There are so many opportunities today that even individuals without access to higher education can find their niche and find fulfilling work in their field. Although these websites and apps promise your dreams will come true if you sign up with them, there are actually some long-standing naysayers who believe that link partners aren't worth it — which may be true for some people, but not all.
This is what a link partner is:  It's someone who has been given permission to promote your website, product, or service by placing a link to it on their own website. They are referred to as "link partners" because, like the article title says, they are providing you a "link". When someone sees that link and clicks on it (or any other webpage from your own website), they see your content. So why would you want one?
In order for people to read about what you have to offer, they are going to need a reason. If they land on your home page and there is no explanation as to why they should care about reading the rest of your site/blog/etc. (or no reason at all), then they won't. On the other hand, if you have a link partner, then that person already has an audience that has shown interest in subject matter similar to yours. In this case, people are more willing to click and read things about businesses similar to your own because the content provider already has their interest.
Think of it this way: If you were trying to eat dinner and there was a candle on the table in front of you instead of food, would you be interested? Probably not. However, if there was cake sitting on the table accompanied by a lit candle at your place setting, would you have any problem eating it? The answer is probably still no. You wouldn't think twice about it.
As a blogger, it is easy to feel like your work goes unnoticed or unappreciated. However, if you have a partner in crime who also believes in your message and has built a reputation for providing quality content, then you have even more reason to believe that someone will take notice of your work and enjoy reading it.
The next time you are browsing the web and something catches your eye, think about why. You might just realize that it was the link partner who made you click and read. If not, then you know exactly what it feels like for a stranger to have interest in your content.

Conclusion: It's a nice, logical and safe idea, one that is supported by the research we've put together in this post.
It's a classic example of someone who sees others worry about SEO & link building and praises those who have built a website that is showy, but empty. People who have been in the search marketing space for a while know better than to fall into this trap. However, for many of us in the new world of Search Marketing, our concern has been more directed at the content we publish on our websites. We focus on creating web pages and blog posts that people will read, not just links to other people's sites.
