What makes a great watch? For some people, it's just another pretty face on their wrist — but for enthusiasts like you and me, we want something more. Something with history, mystery and a touch of quirkiness. Something like the iconic Rolex Submariner, which has been inspiring watch designs for almost 60 years.

It's only fitting then that we take our inspiration from one of the most famous watches ever made. We want to make something new, but wholly familiar at the same time — with character and charisma that will set it apart from other watches at first glance. A watch that not only tells the time, but tells your story too. Whether it's an adventure in your life or a place you want to be — Zlob is there for you every step of the way.

Our goal was to develop a timepiece that would look good on your wrist, no matter who you are or what you're wearing. Zlob's clean lines and curved, ergonomic shape make it the perfect watch to accent any outfit. It goes with anything from a casual t-shirt and jeans to a business suit. Zlob is the everyday accessory that complements your style and personality.

1) The Hands: The hour hand is wider than the minute hand in order to give it better visibility when checking the time quickly. The minute hand is slightly smaller relatively than the hour hand, because we believe that this makes it easier to tell the time at a quick glance.

2) The Markers: We originally had intended to use numbers for the hours on our watch, but decided against it because they aren't unique or interesting. We had noticed however, that the numbers 4 and 8 looked like large dots — almost like dice. We thought that this would be a great way to break up all of the straight lines in our design without sacrificing legibility. And then we just went crazy from there…

3) The Case: Our case is curved and ergonomic, making it comfortable on your wrist and easy to wear with any outfit. We studied the Submariner's iconic case lines for inspiration, but we didn't want to copy it exactly. Instead, we worked with what we loved about the Sub and made it our own.

4) The Crystal: We believe that a watch’s crystal (face) is a very important component of its overall design. It had to be clear and transparent, so that you could see the inner workings of our movement — but at the same time, it had to feel like a natural extension of the case. That's why we chose sapphire crystal over mineral glass or acrylic.

5) The Dial: A dial can either make or break a watch — which is why we put so much thought into ours. We loved the typography of the Submariner’s dial — which is why we chose to use it as our inspiration, but we also wanted it to have a touch of quirkiness (something we’re always going for) to set Zlob apart from anything else out there. We wanted to make sure that the contrast between the white numerals and black text was striking and legible, without being too busy or busy looking.

6) The Bezel: One of our favorite parts about Rolex watches is how unique they are, so we knew that our bezel had to be just as unique.

Conclusion: The first Zlob watch was born out of our love for the iconic Rolex Submariner, and our desire to create something that would feel just as familiar — but unique enough to set itself apart from other wristwatches in the world. We believe that we succeeded with Zlob.
