One of the best opportunities to generate free traffic - Your website is shown to others!

*** This blog post is going to tell you why it's important for your website to show up in search engine results, and what you can do to make sure it does! ***

Everyone knows that in order for a business to be successful, they need customers. And one of the best ways of getting new customers is by generating traffic (i.e. people coming your way).

Google has become one of the most popular search engines out there, and is used by countless people every day. What many people don't know, however, is that Google searches are a great way to generate free traffic. Without getting too technical (and I assume you're not ready for that...), this blog post is going to tell you how it works and what you need to do in order for your website to appear in Google's search results.

The Science Behind It All (Oh Yeah, I Did Say "Win-Win"...):

The process through which a piece of content on your website gets indexed in Google is called "search engine optimization". It is a process that is utilised by many businesses, and it's how we generate traffic through Google.

Basically, you post content on your website. The more people see your content (and subsequently add it to their Google search results), the higher the chances are that they will click on one of Google's ads that shows up next to the result.

Sidenote: There is a multitude of different types of ads that you could be shown with your content. The most common ones are text ads and video ads, but there are others such as carousel ads.

"I need to add keywords to my website so my content can reach a larger audience": What do you think keywords are? I'll tell you what they aren't. They are not "magic words" or "keywords people are searching for". What they really do, is help Google to understand what your website is about. The more specific your content is, the better!

In order for Google to understand your website clearly, it needs specific information about it. In the eyes of Google, your website is just a "page", and it doesn't know anything about it (yet). That's what keywords are all about. Adding specific ones to your website helps Google to understand what's going on there!

"My content needs to be unique and indexed by search engines": This is something that very few people know, but I'm going to tell you anyway... The more duplicated content you have on your website, the lower your chances are of getting ranked high in search engine results. There are two reasons for this:

One reason is that duplicate content tends to confuse Google's search algorithm. It doesn't know whether it should index your website properly or not. In the result, your website might show up in Google's search results, but not in the way you want it to.

The second reason is SEO-related and has to do with how people will view your website. If they see that your content is duplicated across a tonne of different places on the internet, they're going to think it isn't original and won't take you seriously (nor will they want to use your services/products). This also messes with Google's search algorithm...

Conclusion:

So, that's all there is to it. The more content you have on your website, the more people are going to see it and the higher the chances are that they'll click on a Google ad. The more people visit your website through Google, the more traffic you're going to get from Google's algorithm and that will ultimately help generate your website new customers (something which is so much needed nowadays).

So, remember this:

You need to make sure you're competing with other websites by providing them with great content. Your main goal should be to make sure your content is unique, useful and provides value for its visitors! When I say "content", I mean anything on your website...
