1. Visit Marketing Land and sign up for their free trial of one of their high quality newsletters. This will give you a solid grounding in strategies, tactics, and insights that will help your company grow exponentially. You'll also receive 'The Weekly Top 10'.

2. Start taking notes on the strategies you like, and any tactics that will help you grow your list. The more you learn about how to use these tactics in your business, the sooner you’ll be able to optimize for success.

3. Sign into your Yahoo account and go to the bottom of your home page. This will take you to a narrow strip of links on either side of an image map in which there are all of your contacts with links back to their full profiles and/or pages on Yahoo! Web Directory.

4. Sign up for a Yahoo! Web Directory account by going to: http://directory.yahoo.com/us/web-directory/. On the next page of 2 screens, you'll be asked to fill out your business information using the 'Contact Info' box on the right side.

5. Choose a category and a description for your listing - this will be how people find you on Yahoo!. We recommend that you choose one that's easy to spell, easy to remember, or describes your business in a clear and concise manner - something like "Healthcare Software" or "Card Games".

6. Example: If your business name is "The Health Software Company" then you would choose the category: 'Healthcare Software'. If on the other hand your business name is something more descriptive, like "New York City Accounting Firm" then you would choose the category 'Accounting' or perhaps 'Finance and Accounting'. (If you cannot decide try them both! You can always delete the second listing if it doesn't get any traffic.)

7. On the next screen, select your country and enter your business address and local phone number. This will be how people contact you when they need to ask questions about your listing, or provide feedback.
