Getting Started With Google Adsense

 Getting Started With Google Adsense

Google Adsense is a great way to make money from your website, blog, or YouTube channel.

It's an automated system, which means you just need to upload your website and find advertisements that Google will show in the appropriate places.

Google Adsense also includes access to the Google Analytics tool – a market research and statistics service that allows you to view real time data on what people are looking at on your site as well as get information about how popular certain pages are.

This article will teach you how to sign up for Google Adsense and what steps each author should take in order first start making money with the service.

If you are new to using Google Adsense or don't want to use your personal account, you can set up an affiliate partner account instead.

There are two types of Google Adsense accounts: the standard user account and the affiliate partner account. The affiliate partner account allows you to show adverts using several different websites or blogs but may not display on your own website (as it would be considered as a competitor).

Creating an Adsense Account and Signing Up for a Google Partner Program
Google Adsense supplies instant sign-up for all their advertisers. However, you must first create an account and sign up for the Google Partner program in order to be eligible for payment.
The first thing to do is to go to the Google page and click on the small green "Get Started" button at the top right of the page. This will take you to the sign up page, where you are required to enter your email address and agree to a few agreements before proceeding with creating your account.

After you have signed up, you should be taken to your dashboard. You will receive an email from Google shortly after asking for additional contact information. Be sure to complete this section in order to verify your account by providing a telephone number and creating a password for your account. After you have entered all of your information, you will be able to set up your payment preferences and the URL's that will display on the advertisements shown on other sites.
You can find more information about how to create a Google Analytics account by clicking here . Please note that this is not compulsory, but it provides additional info about how to use Adsense via YouTube or other sources.
If you would like to register your website or blog immediately, here are the steps and requirements to do so:
1. Click on the red 'Monetisation' icon from your Adsense dashboard.
2. There are three different types of pages you can register:
- a single page on your website or blog, including sub domains.
- your entire website domain without any pages included (examples: domain.com, domain.co.uk etc).
- an entire network of websites (500 or more) including sub domains and domains (entry level only).

    3. You can choose to monetise any or all of these from the drop down menu.
4. Create a new Adsense account by clicking the 'create an account' link.  You will be asked to enter your personal information and email address (it is important that this is a valid email address because you will be required to confirm it in order to continue).
5. Once you have created a new Adsense account, you will be taken back to the main Adsense page. You can choose to monetise any or all of your pages.
6. To create a page click on " Add a new page (or domain) ".
7. Now you will be asked to enter the page name and the sub domain or 'root' domain where you would like this page to appear.  When choosing root domains, make sure you select the main 'main domain' not just the top level one which you would normally pick as your default for website addresses (e.g., domain1.com).
8. Once you have entered all of this information click " Add new content » » Adsense » Add Content » Adsense Editor ".  You should now see your new pages appear on the Adsense page.  If you have entered all of this information correctly, Adsense will display a message proclaiming that your account is now up and running.
9. You should receive an email shortly after you have logged in to Adsense confirming that your account has been created and that you can begin showing ads to users online as well as making money from them.
10. You can now log into your account at any time, go to the main dashboard and create new pages or change ad campaigns for existing ones.  You can also log in from any of your other websites by going to Ads > My Account and choosing which one you would like to use through the drop down menu.  You can also select the link from an ad on a page or blog you are advertising to.
More Information On Creating New Pages For Adsense:
If you wish to create new pages for your website or blog that will be displayed in adverts on the main Google Adsense page, follow these steps:
1. Log into your Adsense account and go to " Create new content » » Add new content » » Content Editor ".
2. Choose a file name for your page, upload it and click " Save page ".
3. It is now time to give your page a title and description as well as several other details which will be displayed on the main Adsense page.  Please note that you can change all of these options at any time by going back into this section.    - Title – Enter a title of up to 30 characters and choose to add a subtitle if you wish (examples: My Page Title, Subtitle Here or Test Page).    - Description – You have 200 characters to describe your page including a description, the benefits for your users and important legal information about using Google Adsense via the service.    - Image URL – Once you have uploaded an image file that is at least 100x100 pixels in size, you will have to enter its URL (e.g., myimageurl.com/image.jpg).    - Category – This is used for categorising your page as a part of the Adsense product range or a category of pages (examples: education, travel, fashion etc).
4. When you are happy with all of these details, click " Save " to save your new page and return to the main Adsense dashboard.

Conclusion
This is an area in which you may wish to use a professional service or company like Clickbank, but it can be done quite easily by just choosing the right website and/or blog.  Realistically, this will cost you relatively little to gain access to the various tools and features that are available with Adsense, including 10% of all money earned from their advertisers, so it is not a bad place for your first foray into small-scale internet advertising.
