Free ways to Increasing website traffic.
Many people have been struggling to find free ways to increase website traffic. It's a common question, because most of us would like to get more visitors and views for our content. However, there are some things that may seem easy but actually do nothing for your traffic.
In this post I will list all the methods that have worked for me in increasing my site's incoming traffic--whether it be just a tiny bit or an exponentially large amount!
1. Make sure your website's content is interesting for people.
Nothing will do more to get you traffic than making sure that your content is the best it can be! Definitely come up with a topic or niche that you are passionate about and write high quality, unique, and thorough posts on this topic. Having a clear purpose is one of the most important things you can do when building or maintaining a website. I think too many people use their website as an outlet for their other creative projects (blogs, art, etc.) and don't focus on what their blog post is really about.
2. Include outreach information about your site on every page.
Make sure that all of your pages contain information for people to go to your homepage. Usually, this is done by putting a bulleted list at the end of the page that has link out options. If you find that people are going to other pages on your site too much, try putting an arrow image in front of these links so that they can't access them before they hit your homepage.
3. Include a link to your site from your social network pages.
This can be tricky depending on what type of site you have. If you have a blog, it is easy to include a link to your most recent post in your status updates on social sites like Facebook and Twitter. If you are an online business, it can be more difficult--but not impossible! Try thinking about how bloggers use social media and try doing the same for businesses that you work with or for.
4. Make sure that the links on your site are good links!
Make sure you have relevant and good looking links in all of the places that people would expect them on every page of your website...that means essentially everything. You can even go one step further and include your email address in these pages so people will be able to contact you.
5. Use Google Analytics to come up with a good target number for page views per month.
You can find this information under "Overview of Google Analytics." For example, if you are looking for traffic that is around 1,000 page views per month, your site would look like this:
6. Make sure that 970 people have visited your site in the past 30 days (statisticians take note!).
This statistician is going to have to show you how this works, but basically, if every person who visits your site in the past 30 days sees a number on your site that is either 1 or 2,768 people, it means that you are getting a traffic rate of around 1.1% from all those people. Pretty crummy if you ask me! Try to get your message across and make sure that people who visit your website can see some sort of way for them to contact you!
7. Put ads on relevant pages on your website.
I realize this sounds like a typical marketing strategy but I really don't think a lot of online businesses do this.
Conclusion
I hope that you have found these 7 ways to increase traffic to be helpful and well worth learning. I know that finding the right traffic strategies for your site is no easy feat. Try some of these methods out but don't get discouraged if they don't work. There are usually many more ways to increase traffic!
