 Finding The Cheapest Service

There are a lot of places to buy airfare, but over the years I've found that finding the cheapest service is not always easy. As I've learned more and more about how to find better deals, I've created this list of my favorite websites for finding cheap flights. Hopefully you'll be able to save some money using this list in conjunction with your own research!

Frugal Travel Tips: How To Book Your Dream Vacation
by: Tony "Dr. B" Torres | March 01, 2010
In today's world of increasing costs for everything, one might be easily tricked into thinking that the idea of going on a vacation is not financially feasible. The truth however, is that the ideas of how to save money when it comes to vacations has changed dramatically over the years and can now be a much more enjoyable experience as well as one that can leave you with a lot less pain if you follow certain rules and guidelines. The ideas presented on this page are the ones that I have used and mastered over the last several years, but it is up to you to decide if they work for you or not.

When looking for a place to vacation; one of the things that we need to do is look at all of our options from various travel websites, magazines and travel agents. This idea has become so common that even more of us are now taking online vacations on our computers or laptops. The idea at this point is pretty simple; however before we start looking for a place to go; one of the first things we will need to do is find out how much a place costs. This is obviously not the most difficult thing to figure out, but it does add a few variables to the "how much" question.

One thing that many of us do not realize is that there are some websites out there which will list prices for various places. For example; you want a hotel room for two nights at $99 a night; you will end up getting on a website such as Hotels.com and search all of the options available even though what you really want to know is how much it will cost to stay in one of those rooms! It's easy to get caught up on price so we should take advantage of these opportunities.

The next thing that we will need is a list of all the places that we are interested in and one of the best places to find this information is in travel magazines or travel agents. While reading these things however, you will want to keep an eye out for special deals or package offerings. Some offers are actually very good when it comes to saving money; so be sure to take advantage of any deals regardless of whether you've read about them or not. The other thing that you should do is check the prices of various businesses online such as Hotels.com, Expedia and Priceline. These websites will also have special deals that can save you some money, but it's important to note that they may not be a good idea for your vacation; so always make sure to check back often.

Finally, when looking at places to stay; once again pay attention to the costs. When you are stuck between two hotels that you really want to do, it may turn out that one of them is actually much better value than the other. This example is very typical in the world of online vacations and can save you a lot of money. So, always look at the costs when making a choice about where to stay; because in most cases, that is really what it will come down to!

By now we have seen how much a place will cost, so the next question that comes to mind is how much do I need to spend on my vacation? This is pretty easy to figure out once we know how long we plan on being away from home. You can also start by looking at your budget for things like food and lodging. This will give you a good idea of how much it will cost for both. Then you can do some research online and see if you can find anywhere that is cheaper than the places that you have in mind. Finally, if you still think that more places need to be looked at, then look at the travel magazines listed above again to see if there are any more deals out there.
2. Can I afford it?
If the answer to this question is no, then don't take the vacation for sure! Of course there are a few things that we could do to save money while we are away; such as staying in a hostel and not running all over town looking for cheap lodging where there may be nothing but expensive hotels. If you are on a strict budget and your vacation goes way over your estimated costs, then it is probably better to stay home.
3. How much time can I spend?
If you have a lot of spare time, then you can really do what ever you want; such as fly to Germany for the weekend. I know that it's not a great idea to be away from work for more than a week or two at any one time; but if that's all we have to work with then we start looking at places outside of the country. Sometimes this makes it easier in the long run since international flights tend to be cheaper no matter where we go!
4. Will I be getting a discount?
Essentially, the answer to this question will depend on how much money you save by not taking other vacation travel. If you are looking at places that are less than a week away; then the chances of getting a discount are pretty slim. However, if you are willing to travel farther away then there is a good chance that someone somewhere has found some way to get some money back from their hotel or airline companies. The trick is to find out who these people are and call them up as soon as possible!
5. How much weight do I need to carry?
This one is pretty simple; if you want your vacation weight "X" pounds then keep it under this number. At this point, all any of us can do is try and stay below what we think we can handle.
6. Does it have quality reviews?
There are plenty of websites that will rate a place on a scale from one to ten based on some number that they provide. Of course you will want to keep an eye out for these reviews because they tend to be very unbiased.

Conclusion
There are hundreds of questions that anyone planning a vacation is bound to ask about getting the best deals on things like lodging and airfare. However, some times these questions can get confusing and they can seem to be very complicated. Hopefully, we gave you some information that will help you decide which ones you should be asking! There is no doubt that there will be more changes to online travel planning in the coming years; so feel free to e-mail us with any comments or questions that you have about anything listed above.
