 Fashion For The Little People

Ever since the dawn of the fashion industry, there has been a very large divide between what people consider 'high fashion' and what people consider 'low fashion'. It's like they have made a rule: "If you're not wearing designer clothes, you must be wearing H&M and giving yourself high fives". While this idea may exist in other industries in terms of status, it certainly doesn't hold true when it comes to clothing. Every year we see hundreds (if not thousands) of visionary designers who work tirelessly to churn out the most haute couture garments that are available for purchase. We also see that supporting the 'low fashion' world is just as important because there are many designers who have become internationally recognized for their ability to stay true to their original design concepts and create garments that are meant to last a lifetime, not just one season.
In the industry of children's clothing, it is no different. While some designers choose to follow the cookie cutter trend of every other designer and use silhouette designs that have already been used by dozens of others, there are those who use their creativity in order to create truly unique clothing lines for kids. From the minute that your child is born, you start noticing differences between the way they look and the way other kids look.
The first thing you notice about your baby is their face. The second thing you notice is their clothing. You're never going to get a completely perfect baby because there are always going to be little imperfections that make them unique – and that's okay! Your baby may have a funny nose, he may have funny-shaped ears or eyes or freckles, or odd color combinations and no two babies are created equal. And as long as their clothing lines uphold the quality of clothes that you would want for yourself, then they're doing it right!
Lets Go Back To The Beginning...
So how did this concept of 'high fashion' and 'low fashion' come to be in the first place? The roots of these terms, or at least the general ideas behind them, are actually completely backwards. At one point in time, fashion designers only had the ability to create clothes for men and women. They didn't have a lot of options when it came to color coordination because there was only a few choices for colors available. This meant that it was less expensive for a designer to keep using the same basic types of clothing designs that they used for their customers, because they didn't have to purchase new fabrics or hire new models.
This is where the term 'low fashion' comes from. In a sense, it literally means that fashion was the lowest priority in these people's lives. They were more focused on finding ways to keep their customers within as little of a budget as possible, rather than make a name for themselves or really create something great.
Slowly, as more and more designers became well-known, they were able to branch out into other areas of design that were previously unavailable to them. There was a point when everything changed and designers began to break away from the 'low fashion' industry. Now designers were able to use new ideas, new shapes, and new fashions. Because they had become more well-known, they had more money to work with on certain projects.
This is where the term 'high fashion' came from. In literal terms it means that fashion is high in priority for these people's lives; however, it's actually the opposite of that meaning now. It means that these designers are so passionate about the quality of their work and are striving so hard to make something great that they have become internationally known for their name, not just for the type of clothing they are creating.

Conclusion:
You've probably deduced that there's a big difference between people who choose to follow trends and people who choose to do things the right way. If you're constantly looking for new clothes that catch your eye, then you're probably headed down a very low-fashion path. On the other hand, if you create clothes for kids that make parents happy when they see their little ones wearing it, then you're doing it right!
In this article, we've taken the time to look at both sides of this 'high fashion vs. low fashion' argument.
