The changing consumer lifestyle has forced the retail industry to rethink how they market and sell products. Nowadays, customers expect more than just a few items that can be put on a shelf and purchased at will, they want personalization and convenience. That's why it's important to appreciate the role of e-catalogs in today's shopping experience. You'll learn about their history, their mission statement today, and what retailers like Macy’s are doing with these catalogs in order to reach out to consumers better than any other store ever could.

"The Millersville University Lecture Series" is designed to enhance the educational experience of our community by bringing in nationally-recognized speakers to engage and interact with our students. We present a wide variety of topics in order to encourage discussion and deeper understanding of ideas often presented in class. The topics discussed can range from international affairs and current events, to politics and economics. Our intent is to facilitate a lively and thought-provoking dialogue with our students.

This year (2017), Millersville University will present a series of lectures featuring different aspects of the 2016 presidential election. The program is sponsored by the Miller Center for Community and Economic Development, The College of Arts & Letters, and the Young Scholars Program.


Each lecture will be held from 7:00 p.m.– 8:30 p.m. in Devorris Downtown Center Multipurpose Room (Downstairs). Refreshments will be served at 6:45 p.m., followed by an hour-long lecture from 7:00 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Tuesday, October 18 @ 7pm | $5.00 (Students, Seniors, Young Adults $3.00)  

"The 2016 Presidential Election: Why Did It Matter in the Bigger Picture?" | Ray Eberling, Political Science Instructor at California University of Pennsylvania
Dr. Isaac Wirginis from Pennsylvania State University will give a lecture on topics such as globalization, immigration and job loss in America during the 2016 election.

Tuesday, November 8 @ 7pm | $5.00 (Students, Seniors, Young Adults $3.00)  
"The 2016 Election and Its Impact on American Society" | Dr. George Connor, Political Science Instructor at California University of Pennsylvania Dr. Connor will give a lecture on how the 2016 election will affect America's economic status in the future and what we can learn from it.

Wednesday, December 6 @ 7pm | Free Admission  (Students and Young Adults)  |  $5.00 (Seniors)  
"The Impact of Fake News on the 2016 Election" | Dr. Stephen Spiker, Political Science Instructor at California University of Pennsylvania Dr. Spiker will give a lecture on the role of fake news and how it affected the 2016 election.
The lecture will be held in the Miller Center Multipurpose Room (Downstairs). Refreshments will be served after the program.

Millersville University is a private university that offers many different programs, including bachelor's and master's degrees in fields such as Business, Computer Science, Education, Engineering Technology, General Studies, Human Services, Management, Psychology & Counseling and Public Relations. The interactive environment of a small campus encourages student involvement and engagement.

Conclusion of this event is dependent on attendance. Students will present information about the University, Administration and alumnus committee.

The Miller Center for Community and Economic Development is a division of Millersville University that aims to foster community awareness, economic development, educational growth, civic engagement and leadership training among the citizens of central Pennsylvania. We strive to make an impact on our world by making informed decisions regarding our personal and professional lives.

Conclusion of this event depends on attendance. Faculty will brief students about responsibilities that are involved with the Miller Center's Educational Programs and Demos.
