Belly Rings: Sexy is as Sexy Does

I'm guessing you're wondering why I'm posting this blog. What could a belly ring have to do with anything?

Well, let's travel back to high school! Let's say you were going out on the first date with that guy or girl you had been crushing on since your sophomore year and had that inordinate fear of screwing up. He or she was finally asking you out, and just when things are looking like they might work out between the two of you, suddenly your stomach goes "squish". You need to make an excuse as quick as possible so that your phone doesn't start buzzing with texts from friends.

What excuse would you make to avoid those texts?

"Belly ring. Need to get it 'fixed' stat! It's too tight." (Translation: "I'm really hungover, but they are gonna think I'm pregnant or something.")

"Belly ring... need some stretching..."

(Translation: "I had a late night at that party, and we didn't use protection. Sorry about that.") Or perhaps this is what you were saying last time: "You know, my belly rings are kind of bothering me today. I'll let you know if it gets better or worse over time…" (Translation: "It's okay if we don't get together alone again... or ever again." [insert sobbing emoji here])

As time progressed, would you have been able to continue making excuses as you came up with more and more lame excuses?

One day, though, it just got too much. You're now in college and can't take it anymore. It's too painful to not have your belly ring... and it's not fair to your friends or family who want to see you with your belly ring! (Um... I mean belly rings.)

So what did you do? What was the answer to this problem? Were there rules out there that might help? Unfortunately, looking on the Internet did not solve the problem for me... at all. The only information I found was in the form of pictures and captions. These could have just been old pictures, outdated information, or maybe they were just jokes. (I mean, come on: "You'll be surprised at how many people you meet that like piercing belly buttons.")
