Appearing Girlish By Dressing In A Girlish Style

"The problem with girls is that they often don't look themselves first."

I am trying not to be one of those girls who dress in a girlish style. I would never want to be seen as someone who dresses too girlish. But when I saw this article about how "girlish clothes are bad for women", it made me think. "What if a woman can still appear feminine even if she dresses like the opposite gender?" That possibility excited me and made me feel empowered.
When I looked at it that way, dressing like a girl didn't make sense any more! So today, I'm going back to what always works for me: looking unassuming and professional in my usual attire. (This is a middle-aged man who doesn't wear pink or makeup.)
I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Should women wear what they feel comfortable in? Do you think that "girlish clothes are bad for women?" What effects do you think this has on men?
