The Process: Step-by-step instructions for getting started online and selling successfully   *Step 1: Identify a Product *We can't help you unless you have an idea of what you want to sell. The best way to do that is through Amazon, eBay and other sites that allow you to see what other people are selling and how much they're making. *It's also important to research the niche you'd like to be in by looking at competitors of your niche. Check the reviews, sales rank and profit margins to see what people think of the products before committing to a business.
*If you already have your product, then pat yourself on the back! Now let's move on... *Step 2: Create an Email List *An email list is a collection of emails addresses that you can contact for promotions or updates about your business. *If you already have a website and have an email list, then fantastic! If not, it's time to create one. *A good email service is Aweber.com - it's relatively cheap and easy to use. *The emails of your subscribers are also valuable for future promotions once you've finished the Getting Started course. Step-by-step instructions for getting started online and selling successfully
*Step 3: Get a domain name *When purchasing a domain name ( www.yourwebsite.com ), make sure to choose something that will be memorable and easy to find on search engines (like Google). *A subdomain is a word that comes before your main domain ( www.mydomain.com ) and helps customers remember your business name or brand. You should have at least one, but if you can afford it, choose a memorable one (i.e. www.yourwebsite.online). *Purchase your domain name at Namecheap.com - they are inexpensive and easy to use!
*Step 4: Build Your Website *We recommend using WordPress because it's secure, free and relatively easy to use (it's what we use on this site). . *There are many tutorials online that guide you through the process of setting up a WordPress website, so we will not go into detail here. *You should be able to find a comprehensive guide online for your specific topic (there's so much to choose from!) and it will almost certainly require zero coding knowledge.   *If you are using a different software to create your website, feel free to ask us for help! We're happy to help with any questions you may have.   *For beginners, we recommend Wix.com , they have a free version and no coding knowledge is required. They also have marketing features included in their paid plans if you want them or need them (banners, mailing list). *Keep in mind that you will need to pay for a hosting plan, your domain name and a website builders' program if you don't have one already. *If you are unsure how to create a website, or have no previous experience with coding, we offer website creation services starting at $99. Please email us at support@marketingfordollars.com or use the contact form on this website.   *Step 5: Get Social (optional) *We are big fans of social media! The more you engage with your audience, the more sales you will make.
*If you're fresh out of college and have little to no experience with social media, we highly recommend you start off by creating a Facebook fan page. *You can create a Facebook ad for as little as $5 (you must have at least 50 likes on your page before creating the ad). The great thing about Facebook ads is that they are very targeted (you can select your target audience based on their age, sex, location etc. ) *If you're comfortable on Facebook, then create a page. If not, we highly recommend that you do so because it will help to get your name out there and grow your online presence.
*Facebook has great guides and free training to help you get started with your fan page, so if you need any help feel free to email us at support@marketingfordollars.com or use the contact form on this website. *Step 6: Don't forget about Instagram!   As soon as you complete steps 1-5 above, make sure you start working on your Instagram account as well!
Instagram is a very powerful marketing tool that can easily complement your other advertising efforts (Google Adwords, Facebook ads etc.
