Attendance Recording System
Each and every day, school departments across the world struggle to maintain accurate records of their student’s attendance. The purpose of this post is to share best-practices for a simple and successful way to track student attendance with minimal effort.
This blog post is about how you can set up your school's Student Attendance Tracking System so that it can automatically record students' attendance based on specific criteria:
Student Name,
Date & Time,
Grade Level and
Pupil Number. This system will then send alerts out when an absence or tardy has been recorded. For any questions or constructive feedback please email jane@janesmithplusthree.com.
The answer to the question why people attend class is fundamentally different for a student than it is for a teacher. From a student's perspective, attendance is about the teacher and school culture. If students can see a relationship between their actions and the value that they are getting from school, then attendance improves. Conversely, if students see coming to school as just something they have to do, then attendance can suffer. Below, we look at several factors that affect whether or not someone attends class:
Atmosphere of School – The mood of the classroom during class has an effect on how easy or hard it will be to stay in classroom and learn. The most effective teachers create a positive classroom environment by doing a variety of things such as smiling, greeting the students in a friendly way, not assigning too much work, and using visual aids. The first step to creating an environment in which students will want to attend class is for the teacher to help determine their own mood. A teacher's mood affects whether or not he/she is going to be able to get his/her work done and still maintain an upbeat classroom mood. The best teachers frequent their classrooms, greeting the students and making them feel welcome. Inside of this classroom atmosphere should be pleasant music that helps keep the student engaged. The atmosphere of the classroom is one factor that affects student attendance.
Teacher – The teacher should make the students feel like they are wanted in the classroom and that they can be successful there. Teachers should never put down their students or humiliate them in any way. Instead, they should maintain high expectations for all of their students, despite their performance levels, and be sure to recognize each student's progress and accomplishments. In addition, if a teacher knows about a particular student problem outside of class then he/she may want to make sure that it does not interfere with the student's general environment within class.
