A Sales Resume Is Your Ultimate Sale, Your Skills and Experience Are Your Pitch.

This is an informative article explaining what a sales resume is and why it is so important.

A lot of people ask me, “Aaron, how do I know if my resume will create the sale?” The truth is that only your skills, experience and the way you present them together in your resume will get you that sale.

Your non-verbal pitch counts for about 7% of the message, so this article talks about how to deliver your verbal pitch to create a successful sale. This article will explain what a great sales resume looks like and why it's so important to have one when selling yourself in interviews.

The following is a sales resume that I actually used in the past for a new job. I will explain why certain things are important and how you can create your own sales resume based on my experience.

As you read through this article, ask yourself: How would you improve my sales resume? What do you think I should add or take out?

Skills I excel at building rapport and understanding the client's needs. I am also capable of learning quickly, to order and to take directions from others. Professional History working with a small, family-owned business in New York City where I was responsible for taking orders and helping customers with questions or problems that they may have experienced while purchasing the items that we stocked. The most challenging aspect of this job was dealing with difficult customers who could not see past their own selfish desires or did not understand how their actions affected the other people in their lives who depended on them for assistance. I also had to deal with there being few people to delegate this job to, so I was required to have a great deal of independent work experience under my belt to get the job done and complete tasks without supervision. Goals To obtain an entry level position that will allow me to develop my communication and leadership skills. Education 2011-2012 Emerson College

The Sales Resume 1. Background:
The first thing that I want to talk about is the background section of the sales resume. The background section is how you display yourself in a professional manner, and it should focus on what you have been doing since high school/college. If you are just starting out as a new grad or just starting out in your career, this is where you can list what type of experience that you have had so far and how much experience that you have under your belt thus far.
If you have had an extensive amount of experience, I would like to see that displayed in your background section.
For example, if you have worked in many different positions or companies and you have done a lot of work in each position/company, it would be beneficial to list this out. One of the ways that I make sure my resume has the correct information is by having a professional resume writing company review my works. It’s very important to get someone else’s feedback about your resume before showing it to prospective employers for any kind of job interviews.
You are trying to create a “sales resume”, and you have to get your potential employer to buy into your product. How can you do this?
Take a look at what other people are doing in the job market and ask yourself: What makes them stand out?
Then take a look at your own sales resume and ask yourself: Will it make me stand out from the rest of the competition trying to get that job?
If you want something badly enough, then it's going to take hard work. That's simply how it works.
2. Experience:
The experience section of the sales resume is very important because it shows your prospective employer that you are prepared and ready to take on the new job that they are offering.
This is where you want to get specific about what type of work that you have done in the past. If you have worked a lot of different jobs, I would list out each job, how long that you worked there, and what type of work that you were doing while working at each company.
3. Skills:
The skills section of your resume will be the most important section on your resume, in my opinion. Why do I say this?
Well, if you are an entry level salesperson, then the skills that you will focus on will be communication and leadership.
This is what employers want to see in a sales resume: Communication and leadership skills. Employers want to see that you have these two traits before they hire you because if they don't see them, then it will make it difficult for them to do their job effectively.
Interviewing for a Sales Job Tip #1: Practice makes perfect. If you want to improve your interview abilities, practice as much as possible by going out and interviewing as many people as possible.

Conclusion:
So, to sum it all up, a sales resume is what you would use if you are applying for a sales job within an organization that has multiple levels of management. You want to make sure that your prospective employers can “see” in your resume that you have the communication and leadership skills needed to do the job effectively. You show this by listing out your experience, what type of jobs you worked at, and how long that you were working there. Then, in your skills section, you want to list out all of the communication and leadership skills that you have so they can see all of these skills on paper before they bring you into the office for an interview.
