We've been able to find new clients, get a job, build a website and search for internships with these 10 resources. So, let's start making your job search easier and more effective!
1. Social media – As the world has become more connected, it's become easier to find new clients via social media. Use your LinkedIn profile to show off your work experience and get connected with anyone you can in your industry. Just be sure not to use LinkedIn as a way to sell your services or products on its platform. There are many other networking sites out there that have less strict rules on what you can post.
2. Your Contacts – Your contacts are a great place to find new business. You probably already have all your clients listed, so it just takes a simple phone call or email to get in touch with them if you are interested in working for them or recommending them to another client. If your contacts don't work for companies that could use your services, try reaching out to anyone who has ever recommended them or calls you on the phone to ask if they would be interested in working for you and mentioning that you recommended them.
3. Your Network – We covered this one in the jobs section above. LinkedIn is a great platform to post your resume and show off your professional experience, but you need to do it in a way that helps you and not in a way that hurts you. You can't use LinkedIn as an advertisement and you have to be extremely careful not to spam people with the same type of message over and over again or use it like a business card.
4. Join the right meetup groups – Meetup is an online social network with more than 3 million members globally. If you're looking for new clients, join the right meetup groups and try to get in touch with as many people as possible in your industry. Also try to meet anyone who has had success selling their services or products online and get their help in finding new clients.
5. Blog – Whether you blog about anything or not, it's a good idea to have a personal blog where you can display your experience, provide helpful information on topics that are of interest to your target audience and post announcements about work-related things that will help people find out about you. Also be sure not to sell products on your blog.
6. Keyword research – Most people don't realize that they can use their own contacts to find potential new business opportunities. You can just go to Google and search, "company name + "contact name," and then submit links to any relevant contacts that you have. Or, if you work at a company in your industry, get in touch with any of your friends that are working there and ask them if they know anyone who is looking for someone like you or who has recently started a business online or offline but needs help with marketing.
7. Sell yourself – Did you know that you can sell yourself? This isn't a way to spam your services forever, but rather it's a way to get your name out there and help people build confidence in the potential for working with you. If someone is about to spend money on an advertising campaign or starting a new website, have them do some keyword research and then reach out to let them know about any potential concerns they might have before they spend their money. Then work with them after the campaign or website goes live so that they can see the value of hiring you early on.
8. Use Google search ads – Google search ads are good for direct clients, new jobs, internships and many other things.
