Never miss a moment to celebrate another.
Celebrations are what make our lives special and worth remembering. They act as a metaphor for life, reminding us that every day is an opportunity to take in all the little moments that make up our existence on Earth. A celebration should be a time of appreciation for the simple things in life and should not come only during times of happiness or sadness, but during any point in between; it's about appreciating all the people who have made your life possible and those who you've shared it with, recognizing what you can salvage from your past mistakes and failures and acknowledging how far over the rainbow you've gone because of these very same moments.
Every great life is a story of celebration.
Now, I'm not writing this article to make you feel better or write you off as a moron, but rather to encourage you celebrate every day that passes for all that it is. Remember to breathe, break the silence and cast off the expectations from the outside world and take in life as it comes. You are on this earth for a short time and should use every moment to appreciate those around you; people who may not be here tomorrow. Every person has another chance to live, and they are precious in their own right. Celebrate each other's existence so that every day feels special and is worth remembering.
"What was that for?"
I'm not going to lie, I felt weird giving you a "high-five" when you complimented my shirt today. I've been told my entire life that high-fives are reserved for celebrations; like goal celebrations or coronations or something a little less…pointless. But then again, you're my friend, and that's what friends do — give each other tokens of appreciation. You're not the best looking guy in the world, but you've got heart and we all need people we can count on to lift us up when we're down so I'll find ways to appreciate all of your undying compliments every day.
"You look nice today. That shade of red is perfect on you."
Sometimes people compliment your appearance without saying anything at all. When I hear someone make a comment about my appearance, I always take it with a grain of salt because a compliment can be meant to hurt as well. However, when you told me that my dress looked nice today, I was stunned because you didn't just say it; you meant it. If there's one thing I admire about you, it's your honesty and compassion for others, so when holding back a compliment is difficult for you — and this is the result — that just shows how good of a person you are. I'm not even sure what to say other than that this means so much to me, and I've never heard anyone compliment me for my looks before.
"I like your T-shirt."
This one is easy, I love compliments. Everyone likes a little recognition here and there, so why shouldn't we? Pay it forward and tell someone how much they meant to you today — it's just a small token from one person to another, but every bit counts. Take time to appreciate the people in your life because if you can learn how to celebrate the little things in life then you can be sure that you will be celebrating each day for many years to come.
"So did you know that you can get pregnant from kissing?"
Whether it's a result of wanting to experience the best parts of life or maybe just some good old-fashioned gossip, everyone knows someone who has slept around. It seems like something we'll never run out of, but despite that fact our lives are so short and time is always on the move. One day you meet someone and they're sleeping with five different people, then the next day they marry one of those five people that they were sleeping with. Sometimes we get so caught up in the idea that people around us are having the time of their lives, when in reality they're just going through the motions.
We all want to do and experience everything we can while we are alive. Everyone wants to live their life without regrets and make everyone they know proud, but that's easier said than done. But despite this fact, no matter what it may be, I want you to remember this thought: "It is better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all."
"Every living being on Earth was born for a reason."
I once heard a quote about how every living thing was meant for a specific reason on this Earth. It could be because they make your life worth living, or it could be because they teach you something or even just simply to make you feel like the special person that you are. Every one of us is alive for a reason: someone to love and someone to learn from. And with that said, I want you to know that I'm thankful every day that we've known each other and even more thankful when we spend time together.
It's unfortunate how many amazing people pass away each year without knowing their full potential and without ever experiencing anything truly great in their lives. Don't let this happen to you; learn from those who came before you so you can leave behind a legacy for all those who follow in your footsteps. Every day is a new beginning and every moment is always a celebration. Use your eyes to see, your ears to listen and your words to speak so that you can make each living thing on Earth feel like the special person that they are.
So I ask you,
"Why wait until tomorrow? What can't you do today?"
Life is short, so make it worth it. With the above statements in mind, here are four things in life that shouldn't be gambles: friendship, love, art and travel. These four things will teach you everything about yourself and others — they'll make all your other relationships better because of them. As long as you look for things to celebrate about the people in your life and the beautiful moments you are able to experience in life, you can be certain that you will always find something to celebrate. And that's a good thing. So, don't wait until tomorrow; make every day a celebration.
