Looking for a job after graduating from college can be tough. If you’re struggling to find a job that suits your skill set, below are five unusual jobs that you can get with an RN degree. You might not think college graduates have the qualifications or experience to land these jobs but they each require skills that may be beneficial to you while searching for a suitable position:

1) Nursing Assistant- This role is perfect for those looking to gain knowledge related to disease, illness and care giving. Many nursing assistants are employed in long-term care facilities where patient conditions can change fast and patients need constant care. There are also many opportunities in hospitals on different units depending on whether the hospital has surgical, psychiatric or pediatric wards.

2) Public Relations- An associate degree in public relations can provide you with skills that will help you find a job at a PR firm or staffing agency. As the director of communications for a government agency, I was able to develop an inside look at how each department worked and which types of clients were looking for what type of services.

3) Fly-fishing Instructor- A fly fishing instructor is something most people don’t think about when applying for positions but if you have some experience teaching others and enjoy spending time in the outdoors then this is something that could be right up your alley. You’ll need to be flexible when it comes to scheduling however because teaching others the art of fly fishing means you have to be on the water often.

4) Sales Representative- It’s essential for healthcare professionals looking to get their foot in the door that they know how to sell. A sales representative is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to learn essential selling skills without going into cold calls or selling something they don’t believe in. Many representatives are hired by large companies, such as medical equipment retailers or pharmaceutical companies, and placed in hospitals where they can consult with physicians and help them understand the various products available on the market.

5) Botanist- This is another job that may not be in nursing but one that still requires a degree to get. Botanists study the principles of plant life. Their job duties include identifying plants, collecting specimens and doing research on plant life in different environments.

While nursing jobs are plentiful, it’s good to know that RNs have other options if they want to try something different for a little while.

The problem being that the thumbnail is not visible by visitors unless they click on the link, which takes them out of your page and sends them to another website.
