Weight Loss Motivation: Key To Shedding Pounds
I am just going to come out and say it- weight loss motivation is a bitch. It can be almost impossible to flush the soda down, or the beer back, or that bowl of ice cream when you’re in the moment. It's no wonder why some people never make it past their comfort zone- it's way easier to sit at home on your computer, watching memes and fat jokes than it is to muster up the energy needed to go outside and do some laps. But here are some tips that may help get those extra calories out of your system:
1) Think about what you're rewarding yourself for eating. If you're eating because you think you're "supposed" to be and compensating for that, you're probably not going to stick with it. Instead, try thinking about what your goals are- if they can be quantified (in pounds or inches), go ahead and reward yourself. If you're eating because you feel like crap or because you don't have self-control, stop. If your goal is weight-loss, think about the big picture. Can you really go out tonight if it's to the detriment of your long-term goals? It's also a good idea to set realistic goals for yourself- no one will get six pack abs in a week, so why do that to yourself?
2) Don't think about what food tastes like. Or how it feels in your mouth or its smell when it's cooking. Instead, think about what it's doing for you. If you're eating to soothe your stomach, think about that. If you feel tired, think about that instead. Can a taste or smell hurt you if it's not preparing your body for something? Isn't the body an amazing organ that has handled so much abuse? Don't think about what something tastes like- think about why it's there. Your body knows what it needs.
3) Walk away from the food carousel that is University Avenue and stroll around campus until you find a free bench and sit down where no one will see your food intake. Then, consider going to the library and taking a nap in the quiet.
4) Go home and look at your food. What are you making there? Apples, pizza, cake? Consider what they're all doing for you. You may find that you can stop eating certain things that really aren't serving you well. Sometimes those are the things that are giving your body negative impulses- so get rid of them!
5) Breathe. Deep breaths. Take a moment and breathe slowly, deeply. If you're new to this, don't get too concerned if it's a strange idea (it is to me also). Just sit down and breathe (it helps if it is quiet as well). One deep breath in makes your heart beat slower, which feels good. One deep breath out makes your heart beat faster, which is good as well. Mix it up- the best way to practice deep breathing is to do it out of your nose. Try visualizing a wind coming in and out of your nostrils. If you feel light-headed, you're doing it right!
6) Watch a commercial break or an episode of The Office (or anything else you like) and snack on something healthy! Try one apple or some celery sticks instead of chips or cheetoes. It will give you something to do with your hands, and keep you from munching away all day.
It's not easy to get rid of those extra pounds and inches. But if you think of it as slowly peeling off a too-tight shirt (or pair of jeans), you'll be less likely to quit when things get rough. Instead, think about what your body is doing for you when it's keeping the weight on, and try to find the motivation to keep yourself on track. You'll be surprised at how much better you feel, and how much more you can do with your new body.

Conclusion
What you need to know is that no one can tell you what type of exercise is going to work best for your body while you are growing up. Factors like weight, body type, age, gender and physical activity level all play their part in the amount of exercise that is safe and effective for your body. As long as there are no medical risks involved, it's essential to do some form of physical activity that will make your heart rate increase a little each day. As long as you can keep track of how many days you walked or ran for exercise, adding something new or different in your workout routine should be fun!
I hope this information can help guide new mothers in their quest for good health.
