The Prosperous Life
In order to have a prosperous life, you need to learn how to avoid being deceived by the many false beliefs that are constantly bombarding you. False beliefs can be thoughts such as "I am not good enough," "these people are smarter than me," or any other self-defeating mindset. Here we will break down the ultimate list of false beliefs and define what they really mean so that you can change them once and for all. By learning some of these most common false beliefs and changing your worldview, you will never feel frustrated again because your life will be happier, more successful, and more fulfilling.
"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success."
― Albert Schweitzer
Each day, we are bombarded by a myriad of thoughts and feelings that can help us keep our minds focused on the material things that "should" make us happy. We get caught up in thinking too much about money, status, family, success and other materialistic things like "I should get a new car". What we shouldn't forget is that these are only temporary solutions because they never solve our underlying problems. We must always remember that even if we have a very expensive car or house, it will never truly make us happy. It's the same with other materialistic things such as money. We have to learn how to be happy in our own unique way. In order to do this, we need to stop being led astray by other people's false beliefs.
False Belief #1: Money Is the Key To Happiness
It's true that money can buy a lot of things in life such as food, shelter, and basic necessities. However, money will always fall short of making you happy. Let me explain why:
"Money can't buy happiness but it is a very good place to hide it." ~ Dorothy Parker
I know that many people say that you will be truly happy once you have enough money for yourself and your family, but I'm here to tell you that it's NOT true. Even if you now have all of your basic needs covered and a nice house to live in, you will still be unhappy. You can't buy happiness with money.
"You can't please all of the people all of the time." ~ Abraham Lincoln
When everyone in your world has achieved that level of success, then what? The only way to be truly happy is to do what you love to do and share your gifts with others.
"The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up." ~ Mark Twain
Many people chase after money because they are afraid they will be left behind or are envious of others that have more than them. However, if you are truly happy with your life and helping others, this will bring you true happiness.
Step out into the world and help others become more successful.
This is actually one of the only ways to be truly happy with yourself as human beings. Reach out and help others because it is a selfless act of love for others. This will make you happy if nothing else does.
"When wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; when character is lost, all is lost." ~ Billy Graham
Health can also be considered one of those materialistic things that won't make us truly happy. When we are sick, we can't help but feel unhappy. However, wealth and status can make us feel just as unhappy because they won't be able to cure us either.
"Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship." ~ Buddha
It's easy to get caught up in chasing after happiness through materialistic things because they seem like simple solutions. However, it's important to understand that these things will never truly bring us happiness. The best way to be truly happy is to do what you love with other people who share your passions.
It's easy to lose yourself along the way and give into false beliefs about money and health being keys to happiness. Even though these things can make you temporarily happy, they won't truly make you happy. This is because you are going to end up with a lot of frustration and disappointment. You need to learn how to truly be happy and find your passions along the way so that you can add value to other people's lives. As Albert Schweitzer said, "Happiness is a choice."
"I don't want to become a fool by believing everything I read in books. I know that I must find what I seek for myself." ~ Confucius
False Belief #2: You Are Too Old To Change Your Life
Many people lose their motivation when they get older. They think that they are too old to start anything new or too old to change their life. However, this is completely untrue and can be a false belief that you need to change.
"Old age does not mean the descent into chaos and decay; it means the transformation of all chaos and decay into higher forms of life." ~ Edna St. Vincent Millay
With a little bit of motivation, most people can do anything in life at any age. How many people do you know that aren't living their dreams today when they are barely in their 30's? Just because most people in your family aren't doing the things that they want to do, it doesn't mean that you can't.
"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." ~ Walt Disney
You've been given this chance at life and everyone is capable of true happiness. Stop being afraid of the future and start pursuing your passions. If you don't do this now, then by the time you are at a normal retirement age, it will be too late!
"I am convinced that we cannot discover new oceans unless we have the courage to lose sight of the shore. And I know that we cannot possibly sail unless we have the courage to lose sight of the shore for a very long time." ~ Walter Kohn
What's holding you back from starting a new life today?
"The only thing that stands between a man and what he wants from life is often merely the will to try it and the faith to believe that it is possible." ~ Roy Croft
Many people have no problem starting over at younger ages, but they somehow feel like they are too old to do this when they get older. You are never too old to change your life because nothing is holding you back except for your own fears.
"A belief held passionately enough is an experience." ~ Christopher Reeve
How old are you now? If you are under 30, then you are in prime age for starting over your life. Start now and be happy for the rest of your life!
False Belief #3: You Will Never Have Any Real Friends
We are constantly bombarded with false beliefs that tell us that we will never be able to find real friends or people who care about our lives. These false beliefs first start at school when kids get told to leave their friends behind once they turn the big 9-5. However, it's easy to find a group of friends in college when there are so many adults around.
Conclusion
This is just a small fraction of the false beliefs that you will be bombarded with in your younger years. They are shocking at first because they make you believe that you are alone forever. However, these false beliefs can be easily changed and will make you happier if you want to change them.
"Our mind is our most important possession and must be treated as such." ~ Buddha
The main thing to remember is that it's all about being happy. Happiness isn't about money or things, it's about making the right choices and living each day to the fullest.
