The Perfect Antidote To Procrastination
Do you ever look back on your life, wondering what might have been? I know that moment when I think about this. However, it is not always a negative thing looking back. Sometimes the things we learn from past experiences make us wiser and better. For example, if you were to live your life again without knowing how to drive a car, it would most likely turn out to be quite challenging for you in the beginning stages of your adult life. But once you drive several years into your driving career, those days of being scared by cars should pass and be replaced by admiration for these machines that are so powerful.
So, what if you could start off your life today knowing exactly what is on the horizon? What if, you could get to the starting line with a full head of steam? Now some of you may be thinking, "What the hell am I talking about?" Well, before we get into it, let me tell you that this article is about changing not just one part of your life but the entire thing.
Now don't go running to Google and search for how to attain that perfect change just yet. I know there are literally hundreds of techniques for how to make a change and probably dozens of people who have tried them out. But, change is a process that takes time and the most important thing about making a change is that the one that you want to make cannot be rushed.
Now in all seriousness, there are many ways to lose weight fast. However, there is only one way to lose weight when you do not want to lose any weight at all and it's called dieting. Yes, I am well aware of the fad diets as some call them. They are nothing more than an excuse for people who are trying really hard to lose some weight but have an aversion to using the word "diet. " Now before you think that I am being judgmental and telling everyone to go on a diet, let me state for the record that I am not a fan of fad diets. For example, one of the most popular fad diets is called the Atkins Diet. The Atkins Diet is one in which the person can eat anything they want as long as they stay away from carbohydrates such as pasta and breads. The idea behind this diet is that when you cut out all carbs, your body will utilize stored fat instead of burning up energy from foods that are consumed during meals. The problem with this diet is that it works for some, but in my opinion, it does not work for everyone.
Let's just say for instance that you have a chocolate cake and you are trying to lose weight. Well, on this diet, if you are following it strictly as if your life depended upon it, then yes you can eat the cake because technically according to the diet book, chocolate cake is considered to be a vegetable due to the fact that chocolate and cocoa are both vegetables. So technically when you eat the cake and your stomach decides what to digest first before getting rid of everything else in your stomach such as food and liquids; it will go straight for the chocolate cake and leave everything else alone. I know that the above example is a bit exaggerated, but I am sure you get the point (I hope you do). So my point is that even though these diets may work for some people, it does not always work for everyone.
Another popular diet is called the South Beach Diet. This diet is based on a very simple principle. It is called "eating healthy carbs and calories in moderation." This may sound like it would be easy to follow, but many people have failed when they used this as a diet plan. The reason this diet fails so many times is because they go too far and leap into eating foods that they normally would not eat. You see, on the South Beach Diet you are not supposed to eat breads and pasta, but they are not the only foods that they "allow". These foods include pizza and ice cream. So, you end up with all of these ideas in your head telling you what to eat and what not to eat.
So, as I stated at the beginning of this article, change is a process which takes time no matter how much you want it to be done so quickly. However, there are many ways by which our lives can be changed for the better; from eating healthy foods to quitting smoking. However, if you are looking to make a change in the beginning stages of your adult life, and you want to know what the future holds for you, then this article is for you. Here I will talk about how to change all aspects of your life from the way that you treat yourself; to the way that you treat others.
Now as far as changing yourself is concerned, there are many ways that I could go about it. For example, I could tell you that in order for you to become a better person it would be good for you to meditate before bed each night and more importantly spend some time with yourself each day. I could also tell you to try and read more books, or to even read a book called The Alchemist. However, the point of this article is not to provide you with some magic formula; the point of this article is to provide you with the perfect antidote to procrastination.
Procrastination is something that many people suffer from, and it can have a negative affect upon your life if you let it get the best of you. I myself have suffered from procrastination all throughout my life and when I started college, I promised myself that I would never put anything off that was important. However, after my first year at school I found myself having one of those "What would you do for $1" moments.
Conclusion
So I did what any person would do in that situation, I put it off. And yes, putting something off is part of human nature and a thing we all do. However, by not just putting something off but putting everything else of importance on the back burner; you run the risk of being wise after being stupid. So the next time you feel the urge to procrastinate, take a step back and ask yourself if there is an alternative to simply letting things slide. In my opinion there is no alternative for success when it comes to making changes in life and this includes both personal lives as well as professional lives.
