King Quotes Garner Inspiration

When you hear the words "King Quotes," you probably think of a majestic monarch who, through their words alone, has left an indelible mark on the fabric of history. But you may be surprised to find out that King Quotes is actually a blog devoted to exploring, collecting, and spreading inspiring quotes from leaders throughout the world.

The blog is maintained by entrepreneur Alice Jones and her partner Ahmed Atiya. The pair have been active in the startup scene for several years and are currently working at Revinate, a Chicago technology startup. Jones told me, "we wanted to do a simple blog that collated interesting quotes from Kings (and other leaders) around the world."

Jones runs the website and finds most of the content. She says she looks up quotes in books or online, "or if I hear something interesting on TV or another podcast." She then posts them on her Tumblr account , which acts as a sort of library for all of her posts. She also uses Pinterest for visual quotes.

"We're always on the lookout for quotes as well as interesting photos of Kings and other leaders that we can share with our followers," Jones said. "It's a nice way to learn about history."

The King Quotes Tumblr page is updated daily, and Jones' blog once per week. Check back often to see new content. The blog has grown slowly but steadily over time, attracting readers from all over the world, including Australia, the US, Africa and the Middle East . Some of the most popular posts have been about Nelson Mandela , Mahatma Gandhi , Martin Luther King , John F Kennedy , Nelson Mandela and Malcolm X .

"We try to keep each page from becoming too busy though," Jones said. "It's all about quality over quantity." The blog also boasts an extensive list of sources for the quotes she collects.

"I want people to know that these powerful people told us what they believed, and that their words can inspire us to do great things as well," Jones said. The Tumblr has even struck a chord with some members of the royal family. The Princess of Wales once read a post, which she liked enough to forward to a friend. The Queen herself has also used the blog as an inspiration tool.

While King Quotes may be an online collection of quotes centered around leaders, Jones hopes to expand the blog in the future and offer more types of content. "We want to focus on kings but eventually turn it into a collection of quotes from influential figures that people might find useful." Jones told me that she became interested in collecting King Quotes after reading about Nelson Mandela at some point during her college career at Purdue University . "I love that quote because Mandela had such a tremendous impact on the world, yet he was not always the type of person that people expected."

While King Quotes remains a small blog with humble beginnings, it has already accomplished something great. Not only have its creators collected many inspiring quotes from leaders - they've also helped to spread them through the internet and inspire countless readers in the process. And there's no telling how far it could go in the future as long as Jones and Atiya keep working hard to promote their work on Pinterest, Tumblr and other social media platforms.
