Selling

 Selling

The best way to overcome this block is to get out of it. Depending on your background, you may need a little practice before you can start talking about
selling or yourself. If that's the case, avoid reading any books on marketing and sales which might lower your confidence even more. If you know who you are as a person and what your selling point is (whether it be writing, cooking, designing etc) then just try blabbering in general conversation about it. Try it out loudly in the shower, if you're too embarrassed to do it aloud around people in real life. Try and notice any positive feedback as you speak about your art or craft. Again, if people are giving you positive feedback for something you really believe in, then this should give you more confidence and make it easier to sell yourself.

"How do I know what to sell?"
So let's assume that now that you've overcome the first stage of selling yourself (selling yourself) the next thing is to come up with a product or service to sell. What to sell can be a very tricky question. The most likely answer is your craft or art, but it can be something much bigger than that. You need to think of a problem or issue that you've come up with and then think of the product that solves that problem.

"How do I know what I'm good at?"
There are several things you can try if you're not sure what your selling point is. Try writing down all your strengths and everything that makes you different from every other person out there (this will help you find this stuff out). Take a look at the things that make other people successful in their industries while they're still in school. Look for things like work experience, internships and publications. Also, depending on your age, you may want to try out a couple of jobs in your field to see if its really for you.

"How do I know what to make?"
When it comes time to actually create a product or service for yourself it's important that you think about the quality. A lot of people will rush this part by just making something fast and calling it a day or making something fast so they can get paid fast. But remember this is your name and reputation on the line - so if you don't put out good products or services then that could hurt your sales in the long run.
