Do You Get Attention With Your 30-Second Introduction?

You have a lot of work to do before you can get the attention you deserve. Attention is one of those things that time and time again, we tell ourselves that as long as we put in enough effort, it will eventually produce results. And while this may be true to some extent, there are certain ways you can bypass this process and immediately get people's attention. Here are some tips on how to make your intro unforgettable:

1) Make it catchy: Chances are if your intro is catchy enough, people will remember it even after they forget what your name was. “The 45-Second Intro” or “Your 30-Second Introduction Goes Viral” would do the trick for example. (By the way, I don't know if this is true. If you only read one part of this article, please make it point #1.)

2) Use shocking statistics: Get people’s attention by surprising or shocking them with some sort of statement concerning trends and statistics in your industry. “90% of Small Business Owners Don’t Have a Website. And NINETY PERCENT! How is this even possible? I can’t think of anything more important than having a website for your business.”

3) Make a bold statement: If you don’t have anything important to say, it may not be a good idea to be the one delivering your 30-second introduction. Tell people that if they are looking for something unique, they should talk with you. This will make them interested in talking with you further. “If you’re looking for the easy way out, this isn’t it. You can either do it right or not at all. I am here to see results or bust!”

4) Be Short: One thing I learned is that short and sweet works better than long and complicated. If you have a lot of things to say, then bring them out one by one. You don’t want people to get confused and start tuning you out.

5) Be bold: “I believe in what I am talking about, I am all in on it. Other people may have doubts and misgivings but I’m the only one who cares because I’m the only one who knows how it works.”

6) Ask a question: While this may sound like an awkward way to get attention, it can be effective. Ask questions that are critical to the person you are introducing. Make it intriguing enough to get people interested in you. Here is an example: “If I am being honest, my intro is not very good. Tell me...What do YOU think?” You may not believe it at first, but if you're able to ask a question like this, people will find themselves wanting to hear your response.

Now that you know how important attention is, it’s time for you to learn how to get it.

You see, many of these tips involve showing others that your product is unique so they want to purchase it (this includes yourself). And if you haven’t noticed, uniqueness is rare nowadays. So what do you do when your product isn’t unique?

You make it unique by adding value to it!

In the next part of this series, we will discuss the importance of adding value and how to add value to your product. Not only will this make others want to purchase it but it will make you stand out from everyone else who sells or promotes the same thing.

The above 6 steps are just examples of ways you can do a better 30 second introduction. But as I mentioned earlier, this is only the tip of the iceberg. I hope that you’ve gained some insight into how you can do a better job when it comes to getting attention with your intro.
