Atos Origin Signs A Contract With Wm Morrisons For Fuel Card Management
The United Kingdom-based IT services and outsourcing firm Atos Origin has reportedly signed a contract with Wm Morrisons for the distribution of its Fuel Card Management software.
Atos Origin is an experienced IT services company that specializes in cloud-based solutions, mobile technologies, and cybersecurity.
This new contract will allow Wm Morrisons to use Fuel Card Management software from Atos Origin to manage its Fuel Cards in more than 500 retail outlets across Great Britain as well as 10 fuel stations during the distribution of fuel. The value of the deal is estimated at £2 million ($3.1 million). This kind of deal suggests that there are many other firms interested in using this innovative technology from Atos Origin.
The Fuel Card Management software is a cloud-based solution. It is designed to be used by retailers and fuel filling stations as well as by drivers, who will be able to track their remaining balance through an App on their smartphones.
Atos Origin has also emphasized the fact that the software being developed will allow Wm Morrisons to better manage its fuel cards across its entire network of over 500 retail outlets and 10 fuel stations nationwide. It will also help Wm Morrisons counter credit card fraud while preventing customers from using stolen cards.
With this technology, Wm Morrisons will be able to remotely update its fuel management system. This software also allows retailers to set the maximum level of fuel consumption by customers at each of their retail outlets. The data that is generated from this system can also help Wm Morrisons assess the popularity of gas or diesel in different areas.
The Fuel Card Management software works by filing the card information into five different categories. These include the Risk category, which includes all reports about the fuel card that have been negatively impacted by a known or unknown type of fraud, such as cloning and skimming. The Fraud category includes reports about incidents connected with credit cards and other methods of payment that are used for fraudulent purposes. The Inactive category includes all fuel cards that have not been used for a long time. The Good category includes all reports about a positive impact on the fuel card, while the Expired category includes reports about pump cards that have already expired.
Wm Morrisons is the fourth largest supermarket chain and the 15th largest retailer in the United Kingdom. It has 10,500 employees and 250 retail outlets across Great Britain.
In 2013, Wm Morrisons had reported that its net profit had increased by 2% over 2012 to £667 million ($1.1 billion). This increase was due to a good performance of its core food business as well as an effective management of costs and price increases.
