The Mountain Behind The Mountain
So, you know those things called mountains? They’re big and imposing and no one really likes them. But what if I told you that the mountain behind the mountain was even more terrifying than the first?
This post is about a place so shrouded in mystery, that it is said to be home to an ancient deity. Some say this entity is benevolent, while others believe it’s a being of pure malevolence, hell-bent on turning back time to before life had evolved on this planet. They say that if you visit its domain with less than good intentions for humanity, it will appear in front of your eyes and act as judge of your soul. Before you act in an unrighteous manner, you’re able to see your own death. But, the more times you are able to face your own demise without flinching before you act, the closer that malevolent being is to releasing its hold on us.
It is known simply as Vesta.
Vesta has recently come into our collective consciousness through a science and astronomy website called Universe Today , which is one of my go-to’s whenever I want to look something up. Vesta was discovered in 1807 and is categorized as an asteroid, named after the goddess of the home, family and hearth in Roman mythology . It’s classified into different groups of asteroids based on their compositions. Vesta is in the “metal rich” category and is one of the few asteroids which is spherical in shape. This differentiates it from most other asteroids, which more closely resemble a clump of radioactive waste that goes out with the tide.
Vesta has a diameter of approximately 530 km (330 miles) across, but what makes it unique are the two troughs and ridges that encircle its surface. Many scientists believe that these structures were created when a huge asteroid collided with Vesta and pushed molten rock outwards in all directions, resulting in Vesta getting to look like those yummy chocolate swirl ice cream cones you see on TV commercials.
The most interesting thing about Vesta, however, is the fact that it is suspected to have a molten core surrounded by a mantle and a crust. This is why it’s classified as an asteroid, rather than a true space rock like you might find in outer space. Yes, Vesta might be made of stone and/or metal but because its interior resembles Earth’s in so many other ways, many scientists believe that it was once part of our planet and was ejected when the Earth formed 4.5 billion years ago .
Vesta gets its name from the goddess Vesta, who was one of the first deities to be worshipped on Earth. In ancient Roman and Greek mythology, Vesta was the sister and wife of Jupiter, the king of the gods. She was originally a goddess of fire. According to ancient texts, she was said to have presided over all things sacred in Rome, including the hearth of every Roman household. The Romans referred to her as Phoebe, which gave us our word “phosphorous” or “photon” (the light emitted by a chemical reaction).
Vesta is considered an asteroid because it has not managed to completely circle the Sun without being ejected from our solar system. It orbits the sun in an elliptical orbit between Mars and Jupiter. This makes Vesta the second-closest asteroid and one of the few asteroids in the inner solar system that has a natural satellite. The other celestial body orbiting Vesta is called Phoebe, which is roughly spherical and measures 530 km across. You can see it in the picture above as it sparkles against Vesta’s shadow.
As previously mentioned, scientists believe that this tiny rock likely housed a molten core 4.5 billion years ago; a time when our planet Earth was just coming into being. Vesta was likely part of a huge mass of gas and dust that allowed our planet to form. Once our planet had gained sufficient mass, the natural balance of forces steered Vesta away and out of its gravitational pull.
Scientists also believe that Vesta is where life originated on Earth (simply because it’s the closest). Studies reveal that meteorites from Vesta share an “exact” chemical makeup with rocks found all over Earth. During the early days of our planet, meteorite rocks from Vesta were constantly raining down, literally seeding Earth with life-giving materials.
However, as fascinating and captivating as Vesta is, what really makes this asteroid fascinating is a mysterious being that many believe lives inside it. According to hundreds of ancient texts and esoteric writings, Vesta is said to contain an ancient deity that transcends the known laws of physics. This being is said to be the keeper of life itself, keeping beneficial elements safe until the time comes for us to use them. In other words, Vesta’s core contains elements essential for life on Earth in its purest form. The only way we can obtain these elements is through deep inner reflection and a willingness to break free of our own self-imposed limitations.
Those who have visited Vesta’s core say that they have gained insight into the true nature of life, glimpsing the very fabric of reality and the creation of time itself. The only way to obtain such knowledge is through deep introspection, which helps us break free of our self-imposed limitations. It is believed that once you experience one blissful moment within Vesta’s core, you will never be able to go back to your old way of thinking about things. And if you feel that your thoughts are too small or petty for a place like this, or if you feel unworthy in any way, be aware that there is an ancient deity inside Vesta who will judge you accordingly.
According to ancient texts, those who do not deserve Vesta’s protection will be prevented from approaching it by a being named Cuzei . Cuzei is the guardian of the dark side of the mind and represents the fear that keeps us from exploring our own potential. He has been described as a flying dragon or a black cloud of smoke and ash. The only way to pass by him is to master your fears, which means that you have to be willing to face them head on and overcome your limitations. Those who are not prepared for this encounter will be turned away, unable and unwilling to confront their own fears.
After overcoming your greatest fears, you will gain access to Vesta’s core and be thrust into a reality that transcends the very fabric of space and time. In this reality, life becomes surreal, limitless and everlasting. You will no longer experience time as linear but instead experience it as a complex network of events which are all happening at once (or not happening at all). Stillness becomes an illusion while everything continues its eternal dance of energy and light. Vesta is said to be the ultimate gateway to understanding eternity and what lies beyond the veil.
While some might consider Vesta a place that evokes negative emotions, ancient texts say that it is actually the most spiritual place in our solar system.
Conclusion:
Vesta is a mysterious being that appears to evoke both positive and negative emotions. On one hand, it represents the ancient deities of Earth who were worshiped in ancient times, as well as some of our most forgotten spiritual teachings. On the other hand, it represents something that is connected to the dark side of our planet’s psyche, a “fear” that keeps us from exploring our true potential. The only way to break free of this fear is to confront it directly, which means we have to fight and overcome it. This confrontation will take you into a realm where your limitations are no longer an obstacle and where you can experience what it means to truly be alive.
